Drink Wine with Texas Soul at Messina Hof’s 41st Annual Wine & Roses Festival 

Spring is in the air, and that means it’s time to raise a glass and celebrate at Messina Hof’s 41st Annual Wine & Roses Festival! This family-friendly event is a time to gather, sip, and celebrate the beauty of the season, the rich tradition of Texas winemaking, and the joy of sharing great wine! 

A Festival Rooted in Tradition 

The Wine & Roses Festival is one of Messina Hof’s longest-standing traditions, inspired by the romance of our vineyard and the beauty of our estate’s blooming roses. What began as a small community gathering has grown into an event that attracts thousands to experience all the winery has to offer, celebrating Texas art and wine! 

The Artist Competition 

In partnership with the Arts Center of Brazos Valley, we are proud to continue showcasing the Texas Artist Wine Label Competition. The Artist Competition has been a part of Messina Hof’s Wine & Roses Festival since 1986 and has fostered a connection between Texas art and winemaking for over 35 years. Guests will have the opportunity to view the top finalists’ artwork and vote for their favorite, with the winning piece earning a place on a future Messina Hof wine label.

With multiple ticket packages available, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Wine & Roses. Every package includes a commemorative Festival Wine Glass and T-Shirt, along with Punch Cards for wine tastings. Prices start at $35 for the Tasting Package.

  • Grape Stomp Competition – Step into the winemaker’s shoes—literally. Enter your team of 2-4 people and take part in this celebrated tradition where you’ll crush grapes just like the old-world winemakers. 

  • Exclusive Wine Tastings – Sample a diverse selection of Messina Hof’s finest wines, from crisp whites and bold reds to refreshing rosés and sparkling wines. Our knowledgeable team will guide you through each pour, helping you discover new favorites. 
  • Vendor Fair – Explore artistic creations and specialty products from local vendors and artisans at the Messina Hof Estate. It’s the perfect day for sipping, shopping, and supporting local businesses. 
  • Vote in the Artist Competition: Discover incredible artwork as the top Artist Competition finalists are showcased. Vote on your favorite and help us determine the winning piece that will be featured on a future Messina Hof wine label.

  • Barrels & BBQ – Experience the perfect pairing of Texas wine and barbecue. Enjoy a mouthwatering barbecue buffet in The Vintage House, where smoky flavors and robust wines come together in harmony. Included in the Foodie and Ultimate Packages, this indulgent experience can also be added to a Tasting Package. 
  • Crafting Charcuterie with Karen – Master the art of assembling an eye-catching charcuterie board in this hands-on class led by Karen Bonarrigo. Learn expert tips for balancing flavors and textures while enjoying delicious bites and perfectly paired wines. Available exclusively in the Foodie and Ultimate Packages. 

A beautifully arranged charcuterie spread featuring a variety of artisanal cheeses, cured meats, marinated olives, herb-infused mozzarella, fresh grapes, and a delicate salami rose. A glass of sparkling rosé from Messina Hof Winery adds a touch of elegance, while small dishes of fruit preserves and garnished olives complete the perfect pairing experience.

  • Wine Cocktail Workshop: Shake up your wine experience in this interactive cocktail-making class. Learn how to craft three unique wine-based cocktails, taste each one, and experiment with your own mixology skills. This fun and flavorful workshop can be added to any ticket package.  
  • Rosé Rendezvous – Dive into the world of rosé with an engaging session led by winemaker Paul Bonarrigo. Explore the process behind making rosé, take part in an aroma lab to identify key flavors and tasting notes, and, of course, sip on some of Texas’ best rosé wines. This exclusive experience is only available in the Ultimate Package. 

Four glasses of rosé wine from Messina Hof Winery are arranged on a tasting mat for the Rosé Rendezvous event. The wines range in shades from pale blush to deep pink, with condensation on the glasses. Two small dishes accompany the tasting, one with an orange peel garnish and the other with pistachio and dried fruit, highlighting the curated scent and taste experience.
