October is Texas Wine Month

10.08.09

The state of Texas honors the Texas Wine industry by declaring October as Texas Wine Month each year.  There are special events all month:  festivals, dinners, tastings, and wine trails.

The Bluebonnet Wine Trail kicked off October with a Dinner with the Winemakers on October 2nd.  Each winery on the trail was represented.  The dinner was held here at Messina Hof.  We created a Texas menu of dishes featuring food produced locally.  Each course was paired with a Bluebonnet Wine Trail wine.

Wines featured were the Bernhardt Sarah, Retreat Hill Chardonnay, Pleasant Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, Colony Cellars Texas Rich Blush, Cork This Red and White, and Messina Hof Private Reserve Port.  Every wine was delicious and represented the Trail so well.

The October Bluebonnet Wine Trail features special activities at each winery along the Trail.  October 10th and 11th finish the October Trail.  Tickets are $15 each or 2 for $25 and can be purchased at any of the wineries along the Trail.

Messina Hof finishes the trail on October 11th with a Neighbors’ celebration and invite all to come for live music and artist Rick Vanderpool.
