Texas grapes are in season
Harvest season is a truly unique experience. The vines are full, green, and brimming with deep, purple grape bunches. These literal fruits of our labor only come around once a year and mark the beginning of a brand-new vintage for us. The grapes welcome new possibilities in the bottle and create excitement all around the property.
It’s also the time of year we can share this excitement with the community. Our annual Harvest Festival brings together family and friends to pick and stomp grapes just like winemakers of the past. A tradition that dates back to the third century, is still alive at our vineyards.
For centuries, wine has brought communities and families together, and at Messina Hof, we hope our wine can continue to do the same.

FAQs
What to wear to harvest?
Moonlit and Daytime Harvests can involve walking through our vineyard, picking grapes, stomping in the Estate Barrel House, and a small walking tour for Daytime guests. Please wear comfortable, close-toed shoes and be mindful of Texas weather.
Is Harvest Festival kid friendly?
Our Daytime Harvest events are very family-friendly! These events are held Saturday morning where kids can enjoy grape picking (or grape eating), grape stomping, and glasses of sparkling grape juice. Add on a brunch pass for them to enjoy a Vineyard Cuisine breakfast!
When is daytime harvest brunch served?
For guests with the Daytime Plus Pass, the Harvest brunch will be served at the end of all activities. You will pick, stomp, and tour before ending your morning with a brunch buffet and sangria bar.
Do we actually make wine from the stomped grapes?
Yes! We make our Estate Ports from the grapes stomped at Harvest Festival. These grapes go through a unique fortification process called sequential inoculation that leads to a high alcohol content and kills any potential bacteria that may have been introduced during stomping.
When will the Port be released from the grapes stomped?
Our Ports are aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two years, but could age up to four years, before they’re released to the public. Keep an eye out on our social and newsletter for new wine releases!
